Our Mission to Support Diversity

The mission of the Discovery PTSA is to advocate, support and enrich our students with educational programs and community building activities in partnership with teachers, staff, parents and the local community. Below are our statements in support of our diverse community:

5/1/2021: The Discovery Elementary PTSA stands in solidarity with our Asian and Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community. There is absolutely no room for hate and our PTSA’s mission to advocate, support and enrich our students extends far beyond the classroom. We will continue to not only speak up to combat intolerance, but ensure our students have access to resources and materials to further support diversity and inclusion. In honor of Asian Pacific American Heritage month, the PTSA has made a donation of over $500 in AAPO own-voice books to the Discovery Library.

Updated 10/28/2020: Our support is behind Black Lives Matter, both with our Black students, and our community at large. One of our first steps of support has been to donate $500 worth of books written by Black authors to our Discovery library during the 2019-2020 school year and $280 in the 2020-2021 school year.
