National Native American Heritage Month

Snoqualmie Tribe Ancestral Lands Movement

Book Donation to Discovery Library

America is a land of many cultures dating back thousands of years to the original inhabitants of the land. The history and heritage of Indigenous families is honored throughout the year, and especially during November, which has been proclaimed National Native American Heritage Month.

On a local level, we would like to recognize the Snoqualmie Tribe Ancestral Lands Movement. Through education and awareness, individuals can integrate land acknowledgment and respect for the Snoqualmie Tribe into their recreational practices and experiences, helping the Tribe restore and protect their sacred lands. You can learn more here.

Additionally, your Discovery PTSA has donated 32 books to our school library worth $500 on Indigenous/First Nations subjects or authors. It is our way of celebrating these rich traditions and languages, while also providing an opportunity for our students to learn about the immense contributions of Indigenous people. Thank you to Mrs. Gage for helping create this book list and for preparing the books for the shelves. See a photo of the books here.
