Important! Staff Holiday Cookie Event

Staff Holiday Cookie Event - Donation Request

In past years, Discovery families have made and contributed sweet treats for our Staff Holiday Cookies for Lunch event at school. We'd like to honor this tradition while being mindful of current Covid and ISD guidelines. This year, in order to avoid multiple touchpoints, we will be distributing individual boxes of cookies to staff, purchased and handled by a single PTSA member. The boxes will be delivered to the school by December 4th and distributed by office staff.

As a way for Discovery families to say 'Thank you' this holiday season and, still be a part of this tradition, you have the option to make a donation in kind towards this event. Make a donation by Sunday, December 20th.

Gratitude Wall

Gratitude Wall: Send a Message

Our Discovery teachers, specialists and support staff are giving us their best during these unprecedented times.

And while we are all very busy, and our days are filled with unique challenges, taking a few moments out of your day to express gratitude can make someone’s day.

With this in mind, your Discovery PTSA has created a Gratitude Wall in hopes that you’ll share words of thankfulness, gratefulness and kindness about the Discovery staff members that are making a positive impact on your student.

Post messages as often as you’d like, for as many staff members as you can. The wall will be available for the entire school year, so come back and post often.

This small act of kindness will go a long way!

Book Donation for 2020-2021

Supporting Civics Education with Book Donation

Voting and civic engagement is an important part of our community and country. We hope to educate our future voters by teaching them about how to be an engaged citizen and to effect change.

For the 2020-2021 school year, the PTSA has donated $500 worth of books supporting this idea. Mrs. Gage has been sharing the books with every class. See our social media pages to see some of the available titles.

Our Mission

Our Mission to support diversity

The mission of the Discovery PTSA is to advocate, support and enrich our students with educational programs and community building activities in partnership with teachers, staff, parents and the local community.

Now, more than ever, our support is behind Black Lives Matter, both with our Black students, and our community at large. One of our first steps of support has been to donate $500 worth of books written by Black authors to our Discovery library.

Please feel free to share ideas for future efforts to show our support. Email us.
