The Yearbook Needs Your Help!

While we would love nothing more than for your family to purchase a yearbook as a reminder of this momentous year if you haven’t yet, we need even more help!

  • Portrait of your Student: If you didn’t have a professional portrait taken by Dorian in December at the school, please submit a portrait of your child for their grade page. For at-home portraits, please follow these guidelines:
    • color pictures only
    • crop to head and shoulders, no full body shots
    • solid color background
    • high-resolution image (phone quality is usually good enough)
    • no props or hats and avoid logos or graphics on clothing

Submit your child’s photo (or any other fun photos of your child doing school-related activities) by clicking here

  • Student Polls: please have your student fill out the poll for their grade. It’s a fun way to capture what our kids were interested in this year, and they’ll have a great time seeing how similar (and different!) they are from their friends. Click here to access the Student Polls.

Multicultural Night is now Multicultural Week!

Your Discovery PTSA is excited to host Multicultural Week celebrations virtually this year. Let’s come together in this unprecedented year to share and celebrate the cultural diversity that makes up our Discovery community and the world.

We invite students and their families to participate in any or all of the following ways:

  • Cultural Dress Up: Dress up in cultural costumes and hold your flags
  • Cultural Show and Tell: Showcase cultural items, art projects, activities, or games.
  • Cultural Performances: Perform a cultural song or dance, alone or in a group.
  • Cultural Dish: Share a recipe or record yourself cooking a cultural dish.

A special padlet has been created for photos and videos to be uploaded. Please visit the Multicultural Week page for more information and directions on how to upload your materials.

Nominate an Outstanding Individual Today!

Each year, the Discovery Elementary PTSA is honored to recognize those who go above and beyond in volunteering, educating, and advocacy by presenting outstanding individuals with our Golden Acorn Award.

Please think about who’s made a difference during your child’s time at Discovery, no matter how long they’ve been here. Nominate as many people as you’d like, choosing from three categories; winners not only receive a certificate and pin, but a contribution of $75 is made in their name to the Washington State PTSA Scholarship Foundation.

This is truly one of the best ways we can show appreciation towards our greater Discovery community and the tireless work our many volunteers, educators and advocates do for our kids.
